"NOOO!" Arrissia screamed as her father's sword fell limply from his hand and he clutched at the blade impaled through his middle. She raised her crossbow and tried desperately to aim through the tears clouding her vision as the mercenary pulled his blade free. He hefted his sword, advancing on Darius and Arrissia fired. Taithorin heard the shot, spun in her direction, and the bolt thudded solidly into his left shoulder, nearly taking the man from his feet. He stumbled backwards, his sword arm cart wheeling as he tried to stay on his feet, and Caleb watched in horror as one of the soldiers raised his own crossbow, levelled it at Arrissia, and

The Closing of The Prophet's War
The Fortress of the Dark Lord stood broken and lost, its master defeated for the moment. Dou'Ranghon, the great black citadel, was perched like a gargoyle along the lip of a ravine the bottom of which could not be seen. Mist swirled hundreds of paces below obscuring any possible view of the bottom. A great stone and iron bridge ten paces wide and fifty long, spanned the maw and was the only means of entering the dark fortress. The ominous and daunting face of the castle was only enhanced by the twisted, dark iron points that lined either side of the bridge like teeth on a giant saw.
The weary, ba
